      There were 974,488 people that camped in state parks in 2012 and 7,989,720 visitors. Nearly 16% of park visitors came from places other than Minnesota. According to MN Department of Natural Resources, the third most visited state park, also in our area, is Itasca State Park (established in 1891) with 512,352 visitors (learn more).
